Houston Dentures
For many dentists, dentures are a low priority service, and they don’t put much effort into them. Not so with Drs. Kathy Frazar and Tom Hedge of the Houston suburb of Bellaire, Texas.
Cosmetic Dentures
A complete denture is a smile makeover. The smile design needs to be created so as to complement your facial features and to reflect the personality that you want to project.
- When your teeth first erupt, their lengths are somewhat uneven. Thus, if we create a smile for you that has some unevenness in it, it conveys an impression of youth that is also often associated with sexiness.
- As you mature, you will wear down your teeth somewhat so that your smile line becomes more straight. Thus, perfectly even teeth are associated with maturity and seriousness, and convey a more sophisticated image.
We take all of these things into account when we create your dentures.
Quality Denture Materials
To look their best, dentures need to be made with quality, durable materials. These days, there are many excellent materials to use that resist staining and wear and look beautifully natural.
The excellent materials, however, cost a little more money. Many dentists will cut corners to save on the costs, which increases profits.
- When you want the best, Drs. Frazar and Hedge will use the best, most attractive, and most durable materials.
- Excellent materials are not only more aesthetic, but they fit better. Cheap denture materials shrink during processing, so they don’t fit as well.
- The best materials will be more comfortable and more stable.
- Using an experienced, talented denture technician is also key to creating a quality prosthesis. The technician we use is nationally renowned and is dedicating entirely to fabricating excellent dentures.
Other Dentures Options
Even the best removable denture is a compromise treatment. Since a denture rests on movable tissue, it will never be fully stable. The upper is held in place by suction, so it moves less. The lower simply rests on the lower jaw and is held in place by your tongue and cheeks. It takes a certain amount of practice to manage it, and even then, its impossible to restore the full chewing efficiency you had with teeth that were anchored in your jaw.
Then your body, once all your teeth are gone, begins to start dissolving away your jawbone to use the minerals elsewhere in your body. Over a period of ten to twenty years, you will lose most of your jawbone. Eventually, you will have a condition known as facial collapse, and no dentures will be comfortable. Your face will have a sunken-in appearance. You may end up leaving your teeth in a drawer and trying your best to get along without them.
Dental implants prevent these problems. There are many variations of implant-supported dentures. You can read more on our dental implants page.
