Houston CEREC® Crowns
Houston cosmetic dentists, Dr. Thomas Hedge and Dr. Kathy Frazar, place one-visit CEREC® crowns.
At most dental offices, a crown requires two visits to place. At the first visit, your tooth is prepared for a crown and an impression is taken of the prepared tooth. That impression is sent to a dental laboratory that makes the crown. Meanwhile, you wear a temporary crown.
A lot of people don’t like temporary crowns. Your tooth can be sensitive while you are wearing the temporary. Sometimes it comes loose. It can have loose edges, and it can trap food. Plus, it involves an extra dental appointment.
The CEREC® Crown Technique
A CEREC® crown is different, and you can learn why.
- Instead of an impression, an optical scanner records the exact shape of your prepared tooth.
- Then, while you have a short wait in the dental chair, a milling machine in our office fabricates the crown under the direction of complex computer software.
- It is manufactured to fit your tooth precisely and to fit into your bite with maximum comfort.
- Since the crown is done in one appointment, there is no temporary crown and no second visit. This is popular with patients.
- Another advantage – there are no laboratory fees. Since our costs are lower, we can pass those cost savings on to you!
